Kenwood L-03DP
(1983 - 1984)
"This player incorporates a microcomputer and random access memory for ultra-convenient operation which combines with the new super-high performance levels created by Kenwood Digital Audio Disc technology"

Not just another clone : the L-03DP featured nothing less than a Sigma Drive output, separate transformers for its analog/digital sections and a lot of customized parts. Plus an impressive 8kb memory for programming.

Not the worst looking, not the best looking - but placed right off the bat by Kenwood among its reference series with the capital "L". Digital Audio Disc was ultra High Tech, remember ?

Kenwood was at the time trying (trying is the word) to crash the professional market, like Technics earlier, Denon or Victor but with absolutely no results - Sony ruled, since 1976. But you can see a basic image of that short-lived professional rig here on TVK - click the buttons below !

The original version of this particular design was sourced from Alpine and its AD-7100 ; other rebadges : Aurex XR-Z90, Toshiba XR-Z90 and Luxman DX-104.

The images here were sourced from the original grand 1983 japanese catalog which was sadly lost by my local post office ; Eiichi Muratomi had the good idea to make safety quick scans before sending the original to me - so here they are anyway !
The image at the bottom comes from a 1983 german catalog.
